Consider Multi Generational Design and how it can impact areas like horticultural therapy, designing for autism, for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. There is a confidence building role for it within the work being done with people in transition; from abusive or addictive backgrounds, children from dysfunctional homes.
Facilitating pleasurable engagement with the garden. Providing the vehicle for pleasant interaction with outdoor space. Making something easier makes it more likely to be helpful and therapeutic. This is what Multi Generational Design is all about; facilitation, ease, pleasure.
MGD can be incorporated into all these areas. Call it multi function design, multi lateral design, multi faceted, multi layered, broad spectrum design, universality, design for life, design for lives. Whatever.
What’s important is that it works.
